Dear all, I wanted to take this opportunity to send huge thanks to you all today. We have received some wonderful gifts lately from our supporters and it makes so much of a difference to the lives of the children here. This photo below shows the grandmother of the little girl who was born in August to a girl from Turi Children's Project. Here is Beatrice, collecting a care pack that has been generously gifted by one of our supporters. Through this regular support, their family will have a lot more chance of giving a good future to Lauleria, the beautiful little girl in the second picture.
We're also very grateful to those who have faithfully knitted and donated lovely garments for the TCP kids over the past years. The children's clothes are worn until they are threadbare so new clothes make a real difference to these children's lives.
Our activities continue at TCP, with the children enjoying a variety of activities including carpentry, computing, knitting, sewing and cookery. The children boiled maize this week, to add to their meal in the afternoon. This simple addition created a lot of fun, smiles and full tummies at the project.
Last week, staff and students from St Andrew's headed to the project to play and read with the TCP kids. The kids loved hearing the story and having it translated into Kiswahili. They enjoyed learning the English words and then had a go at reading the books for themselves.
We are really excited to have another school visiting us towards the end of this month. King's Ely will be joining us in their half term to work in various projects in the local area. Taking the baton from Guernsey, they will continue working on the building project outside the project's gates so that soon we can rent out the house and aim to make TCP more sustainable for the years to come. Thanks so much to all who have contributed to help us give these children a better hope and future in Turi village. Warm regards, Rachel and the TCP team
