New Year, New Term

We have had a great start to 2019, with the children settling well in to TCP and school.

January is the start of the academic year in Kenya, and so we see new faces coming to TCP when children have moved up in to school. TCP is not able to individually help every child in our local primary school, but our social worker Sarah plays a key role in identifying, through home visits, those in most need in the village.

We are delighted that this year we are welcoming 120 children to TCP each week, which is slightly more than last year, and that we are able to continue our specific support for a few individuals from our community.

For many years we have been working with Love in Action, the Prep School charity at St Andrew's, to support three young disabled people in our community through their schooling. Lucy, who is 14 and attends Thika School for the Blind, and John and Sarah, who are both 17. Until December John and Sarah were attending Ngara School fo the Deaf in Nairobi. However, in January they both moved to a school in Nakuru, which is much closer. John is in the secondary school and Sarah is in the attached vocational college, studying tailoring. We are so thrilled that they are settling in well, and that they are much closer for us to visit!

If you would like to know more about these children and their story, get in touch through our Support page.
